O.U.T.S. BECOMES THE NATION'S LEADING PROVIDER OF INDEPENDENT BASEBALL UMPIRES WITH THE MERGER OF THE PROFESSIONAL UMPIRE CAMP!!!
February 4th, 2012--O.U.T.S. is proud to announce that the Professional Umpire Camp, run by Lance Schoenwald, has merged with O.U.T.S. for the 2012 season. This brings several new leagues into the fold, which will include the Can-Am League, the American Association, the New York Collegiate Baseball League, the Futures League, and the Pecos League, just to name a few. This adds to the Northwoods League and Atlantic League, making this truly the largest supplier of independent baseball umpires in the country!!!
This also changes our fee structure. In an effort to bring in as many leagues and assignors, as well as supervisory staff, we have had to make some changes to our structure. Our goal is to provide every umpire with as many potential jobs as there are available. With the finalization of this merger, the total number of positions available exceeds 50, and may grow larger. Therefore, the registration price of OUTS is $500.00 per umpire. This no longer includes rooms in the price. We have worked out a great hotel deal, with the hotels to be named this week. The hotel price is $250.00, per umpire, double-occupancy, for nine nights. You can choose to pay for the hotels in advance with your registration, or pay for your hotel when you arrive in Cocoa Beach. If you choose to stay in a hotel on your own the camp cost is $500.00. See our Seminar Package page for more information.
January 29th, 2012--Mark Facto, Atlantic League Supervisor of Umpires, added to 2012 O.U.T.S. Staff
Oceanside Umpire Training Seminar is pleased to announce that Mark Facto, Supervisor of Umpires for the Atlantic League, has been added to the OUTS instructional staff.
"It's a real coup for us to add Mark to our staff," said Bob Bainter, OUTS founder. "Mark has been a guy I looked up to for many years, and he runs the umpiring staff of the best independent professional league in the country. He taught me a lot when I was a rookie umpire in MiLB, and he continues to teach guys the right way to work. Adding him to our staff just proves once again the committment we've made to making our program the highest quality program in the country."
Mark will be instructing the three-person mechanics portion of the camp, as well as looking out for potential umpiring prospects for the Atlantic League for any potential positions that may come open this year or beyond.
After graduating from the Harry Wendelstedt School for Umpires in 1991, Facto spent ten seasons as an umpire in the International, Eastern, Southern, Carolina, South Atlantic and Gulf Coast leagues. During his six years in the International league, Mark was selected to work five divisional playoffs, four league championships, the Triple A All-Star and the Triple-A World Series. Facto also spent one off-season umpiring in Hawaii.
January 29th, 2012--Rob Healey, Futures League Supervisor and Director of New England AAU Baseball added to OUTS Instructor Staff
OUTS is please to announce that Rob Healey, former MiLB AAA umpire and current Futures League Supervisor and Director of New England AAU Baseball will be on our staff for the 2012 seminar! Rob is a long time friend of baseball and OUTS, and his addition is a welcome one.
"I've known Rob since he was a rookie umpire at PBUC," said Bob Bainter, OUTS Founder. "Rob is really making a name for himself in the independent baseball scene, and he was and still is an extremely talented umpire, and his addition to our staff is a major bonus to us and to our umpires. I'm looking forward to working with Rob on a totally new level this year."
Rob has also been involved with the Professional Umpire Camp, and will continue to work with them closely to find the best umpires he can for the positions he has to fill! Welcome aboard, Rob
January 26th, 2012--Northwoods League names O.U.T.S. Founder Bob Bainter as Supervisor of Umpires
Oceanside Umpire Training Seminar founder and instructor Bob Bainter has been named Supervisor of Umpires for the Northwoods League for the 2012 season. After hosting O.U.T.S. as an advanced camp for the NWL the past three years, the NWL has added Bob to their staff this year.
"I'm excited to get a chance to now completely give back what the NWL provided me back in their first season in 1994," said Bainter. "If it hadn't been for the NWL, I wouldn't have had the confidence or experience to return to umpire school in '95 and make it into pro baseball like I did. I think this is a validation of our program here at O.U.T.S." Bainter continued, "We've consistently proven the past three years that we have the most experienced staff outside the three big schools, and that experience has prepared the past three years worth of NWL umpires to make the jump into independent ball, and then back to umpire school to realize their dreams of reaching professional baseball. I'll be able to now evaluate and train them at O.U.T.S., then continue to work with these young umpires as the season progresses. My goal is to have the entire NWL staff return to umpire school next year and get into minor league baseball and beyond."
