THE COCOA EXPO SPORTS COMPLEX

The Oceanside Umpire Training Seminar is proud to be hosted by the Cocoa Expo Sports Center, located in sunny Cocoa, FL, just minutes away from the famed Florida Space Coast of Cape Canaveral and Cocoa Beach. Just minutes away, the famed Mercury 7 launched the United States into the space race, and Neil Armstrong began his "one small step" from the Kennedy Space Center. There is a chance that the final launch of the Space Shuttle will occur during our seminar, so hopefully our students will be able to witness one of the most breathtaking sights ever seen by the human eye, and there are always satellite launches, so there is a good chance we will see something take off from KSC during our seminar this year.
The Cocoa Expo is the former site of the Brinkman/Froemming Umpire School, and is also the former home of the Professional Baseball Umpire Corporation's minor league umpire camp, which is the final step in becoming a professional baseball umpire.
Matt Yurish is the Director of Athletics at the Cocoa Expo Sports Center, and without him, O.U.T.S. would never happen. A big thank you to Giles Malone, Executive Director of the Expo, as well...for without his co-operation over the past three years, we wouldn't be where we are now!
The Cocoa Expo is also the former home of the Houston Astros spring training complex with, and attendees will be housed in the Expo's main dormitory building. Meals are provided at the cafeteria, located on property, and housekeeping is provided daily for our group. For more information about the Expo and it's history, click on the links below:
